A unit can have a primary(opt) and secondary weapon(opt)

on http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Advance_Wars:_Days_of_Ruin/Units they talk about attributes:
Weapon Attributes Inftry (Up), Veh (Down), Heli (Down)
This is how well this weapon? is against other units
But still we use dmg tables to list up each unit vs another unit. is a weapon just data? ie
a weapon has ammo, maxAmmo, range
when a unit has no weapons it cannot fire

What's the significance of having 2 weapons if they don't have any impact on the damage calculation?
Can it be that weapons offer additional damage on top of the dmg table when used against a weapon attribute? or are the attributes just information to help the user?

I can't post in the dev board apparently so I'll explain this through PM.

Damage tables list the damage each unit's weapons does to every type of unit.

The weapon attributes merely indicate when certain thresholds are reached in terms of damage (and perhaps damage taken? I'm not sure). The importance of these weapon attributes only lies in representing the damage table in a very simplified and inaccurate way. They're meaningless in the gameplay.

When a unit has two weapons and you attempt to attack with it, it will select the weapon which does the most damage to the enemy unit to attack. (A weapon without ammo is not considered of course.)

Notes:
-Traditionally only the primary weapon has limited ammo. (The secondary weapon having limitless ammo)
-With this system, if in the table you introduce a primary weapon damage which is lower than the corresponding secondary weapon damage, that value will never be used.

Thanks, I understand now
