Some of you may remember the old VB version from ages ago, well I rewrote it in java, never released it here and got bored enough to update it...

Major Updates
* Removed the Undo/Redo functionality because it was ridiculously inefficient and buggy (it will make a return though (I hope))
* FoW effects
* More armies
* Army Swap
* Removal of size cap

Known bugs
* River -> Sea tile priority is wrong
* Small graphical bug with shoals
* Painting on top of talon guns

Possible Future Features
* Weather effects
* AW Cursor
* Nest
* Animated sprites
* Army colour editor

I am currently open to suggestions for new features and/or what to add next.

This is very, very awesome, St. Johnston. I am glad to see this was done using Java, which makes it all the more awesome. Great job. I especially like the painting effects of the tiles, though it doesn't work for shoals :( ...

yeah, there are quite a few minor shoal-related bugs that will probably take ages to track down...

out of interest, is CW2 sticking with the old .map format? I could probably add support for whatever format it will be using pretty easily

Oh, we can read the old .map format, if that is what you mean. What format are you using? We are using a completely different format :(...

I made up my own format for the sake of simplicity, but I can add more pretty easily...

Well, that is good. A simple format will make it easier for both of us. Oh and, what is TheMacer's editor?

Actually, you know what, check your PM box...

Great work. Nice to see the paint function working.

Any attempts at a block-in feature or would that be too difficult?

@JSR
TheMacer's editor, but the src and class files for loading his maps seem to have disappeared, so that feature doesn't currently work... TheMacer seems to have gone as well, so don't expect an update any time soon.

I'll talk to you more about the map formats next week (wednesday at the earliest, i'm going on holiday) because i'm too tired to think just now

@DiamondPheonix
more drawing tools (including block feature) is on my todo list

bit of a bug

setting a new default map size saves ok but the backing resets to 30x20 on subsequent runs which does two things:
-screenshots with F1 show the background at 30x20 map tiles no matter the size unless you've
-set a default map size where the y axis is over 20, causes a blank on the next run including the tool bar

this can be fixed or avoided by deleting the settings file, resizing, or loading a map including ones where this has occured
