he said why don't you guys rip the AI from one of the AW games and put it into CW because apparently Java can read hexadecimal.

that is if you don't already have an AI progamed into CW

I think this idea has come up like a bajillion times...

1. AW's AI is written in machine code...for the GBA/NDS
2. Even if we could isolate AW's AI code from the rest of AW and find some way to use it, it would be unchangeable...thus it would only ever work in pure AWDS (or AW2) mode...so why not just play AWDS (or AW2) instead?
3. Stealing AW's code would most likely be harder than writing a new AI from scratch

So, tell Shinko that unless he finds a way to do it and then does it for us, we're going to try to write our own AI instead.

I have a better idea: we'll hire a bunch of orphans to pretend to be an AI and secretly control the entire campaign.

so uh

I was searching around the AWDS ROM and I found this

Code:
0030 92E5 0E20 A0E3 0331 84E0 4850 93E5 0040 A0E1 3830 95E5 050A 85E2 0530 D3E5 5C67 90E5 0170 A0E1 9302 05E0 86E0 A5CT FFEB 0100 A0E3 0010 8DE5 0030 A0E1 0520 D6E7 0400 A0E1 0710 A0E1 6C0D FDEB B406 00EB 0040 A0E1 5107 00EB 0200 80E2 0000 54E1 0100 A0B3 0000 A0A3 04D0 8DE2 F040 BDE8 1EFF 2FE1 7C03 7E02 8402 7E02 0040 2DE9 04D0 4DE2 2C07 00EB 0040 A0E1 A805 00EB 0000 50E3 8050 A003 0050 A013 8706 00EB 0210 54E3 0600 001A 0100 A0E3 3040 BDE8 1EFF 2FE1 0210

Any idea on what it could be, Shinko? It looks important!

You need to figure out how the game reads the data. :)

It's probably Japanese characters see programming isn't limited to just using English characters. I found that out first hand... So we change the character display then translate.

No, it's the fact that machine code for the GBA/NDS can't easily be converted into java.

Unless you can do it.

See, I'd have gone with a few heuristics, and make the AI entirely perceptual. Oh well, I guess that's why I'm not the ideas guy. :P
