Hey guys, I'll be leaving for a month form July to August for a small trip. This is partially CW related, so I am going to leave you with a testing program that can be found in the Repository under downloads. The name is CWTest.

Anyway, it'll give you a slight idea of how I am planning for the menus to look. Anyway, all I am looking for is feedback on the menus, but there is other things in there that works... like the terrains in the map editor. The readme in that file will explain it better. This will be re-written in Slick, and will hopefully be a lot cleaner and faster when I return.

I return early August. Anyway, have fun testing... see ya! :)

I wasn't gonna point out graphic stuff but the map is kinda large and unwieldy
when I maximize the window, the map just gets bigger too, is there some reason the old size isn't used?

It takes some getting used to. For now, I should add that the less time I spend bringing up a menu, the better. Any editor that has all the selectables on a palette make menu navigation a non-issue. In lieu of a palette, I also miss the copy-terrain feature that's mapped to the right mouse button in the CW editor.

On a related note, what files will the maps use? Also, do you know anything about uru's new map editor?

Ok, I'm back...

Ummm, I have a lot of work to do. Lemme start by at least answering those questions and concerns.

There is a lot of unexplained things about the menu system and the engine. Also, the whole program GUI is a little weird.

First of all, the map isn't a predefined size. Actually, you can resize it with the scroll mouse. The old size is there, but I wanted to see the details in the pictures. It'll be the base size. Thanks for reminding me about copying... I need to try that out as well. There can be as many army colors as you imagination can come up with, I really didn't want to be too strict with anything.

1) The old size: The old size is there, and will be more apparent once I add a zoom button to the mix. I made the tilesize 2x bigger than normal, but I too preferred the old size so...

2) The file type for this game is going to be .cwm... or something different from .map files. This program will be able to read .map files though. The file types will be expansive. Whatever Uru's map editor can read and more.
3) Uru's new map editor was halted for a little while. But I hope he'll be able to get it out before the week closes. I'll persuade him the best I can ;)

Anyway, it seems the GUI is ok. So I'll continue working on it... Thanks for your feedback.

How, exactly, does the armies coloring work?

This is nowhere near final, so I'll just give a quick snip of how this works. I put all the colors into a color palette that looks like this.

There is one for buildings (above) and another palette for units that looks the exact same. There are around 19 sections on this palette, but if you make more, the computer will read them in from top to bottom. This is how the colors are handled in this demo. It might change when the real game comes out.
