Wait, what about luggage returns at the airport? They go in a big circle.

They still only go in one direction.

We got the "units can't land on these" code to work with the Wall, right?

Let's just make AWBW black squares.

It can't be stealing they're idea because it's a glitch and not a custom property.

It's going to have to be an invention, there's no logical way to explain what happens without it being retarded.

Crystals are the best option, they're being used in the campaign anyway. Crystal energy along tracks can be used to make units levitate slightly and nearly cancel out friction. In a similar way to how magnetic trains work.

A shiny surface with crystal colors sounds good.

If you can't depict it in a way that makes sense, then leave it abstract. This is what I would've told to whoever came up with pipes >_>

I'd say black square is the best so far. At least it has the advantage that noobs migrating over from AWBW will instantly recognise it.

Though a "no parking" sign might be amusing...

I don't know...

A black square is kinda....out of place? It make it seem like a glitch, not a terrain (which makes sense, since AWBW's black squares are a glitch).

But this isn't a glitch here. It is a terrain. So it should blend well with the other terrains and look more...natural, professional and stuff like that. And really, it will be as confusing as any other new terrain...maybe less if we get the info box thinge with the movement costs.

That being said I am all for a no parking sign <_<;.

no parking sign is awesome

although I'm not sure how you'd see that detail

So yeah, I'm just going to call it a "frictionless surface" or something to that effect
it can look like
a silvery square
that gleams light every now and then
or something

We could just go for a bridge like tile, but instead of the road have a crystal like surface as Kanzer suggests. Also, since when can't you stop on this tile?

Since we're basing it off of the AWBW square.

As of now.

When I say crystal I'm also referring to the color of black hole crystals.

That's not too bad, HochDeutsch! Though I would prefer it darker, like this maybe:

Now it looks similar to the AWBW black square, without looking like a glitch.

Good point Narts, but less darkening would help integrate it with the rest of the terrain.

Should the ends of consecutive tiles connect, or should we just go for the black boxes look?

My physics is rusty, but I don't think that anything can stop, turn left, turn right or do anything other than go straight ahead at the same velocity. Which means that, on the picture HochDeutsch showed, the unit would only be able to move 3 E...not 2E, 1 S.

You will need another explanation for this. I suggest "the crystal give them ultra extra movement power, which lets them move further. But they asplode with the excess of energy if they stay there for too long". Or some other crap like that.

Either way, I kind prefer light colors as well. Little to no terrains are dark, and a dark terrain wouldn't blend well...

There's no need to explain it. It's just a space warp. The people on the battlefield don't even see it.

I agree with Narts.

Hell, we can go with "The surface is an energized medium through which additional energy is provided to any unit moving through it. As such, units can travel indefinitely on such a terrain, though resting for too long causes a catastrophic overload, preventing the ability to end the unit's turn on such a surface."

but no one reads it, so who cares?

Will we finally make it so you can only move straight through this terrain, being unable to change your direction?

I didn't really mean have an actual frictionless surface, I was meaning use the crystal's power to make it frictionless. Kind of like magnetism to this effect:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maglev_train

The crystals can heal units, so why couldn't they create a repulsive force against the unit to make it levitate slightly off the ground? The unit can reach high speeds, while having repulsive barriers would make the units able to go around corners. To stop, the force is simply shut off. So it would be a magnetic track like structure, in a similar manner to roads or pipes for our overworld sprites. Like I mentioned above, a bridge sprite with a crystal floor instead of a road could look quite good. I'll see what i can come up with...

TBH, I don't care either. But we need a backup plan in case a miracle happens and we get an AI and a campaign before never. We will need to explain it somehow there <_<;.

I am all for Xaif's idea, either way. As long as we choose a sprite in the end, it is all good.

I wouldn't mind 0MP tiles in VS maps but I would vomit if someone seriously considered using it in a campaign.
