Vimes, can you make the next official release (B24)? I can't do it.

It needs the default server changed to http://battle.customwars.com/test/ in the Options class.

Once I finally have some actual time, I'll do checksums and point it to just http://battle.customwars.com/

I have no idea when that will be.

Well yeah he's the only one who has the guts to take on serious mapmaking.

So are you guys gonna go through with the 7000g/star charge rates?

Captain Vimes wrote:

Replace them in this order

army.charge(chargeDamage*u.price/7000/200.0);
u.getArmy().charge(chargeDamage*u.price/7000/100.0);
Quote:
army.charge(chargeDamage*u.price/7000/100.0);
u.getArmy().charge(chargeDamage*u.price/7000/200.0);
Quote:
army.charge(damage*u.price/7000/100.0);
u.getArmy().charge(damage*u.price/7000/200.0);

That works as far as I know.

Also take some time with the battle server.
The test server should be worked over before it gets dropped for the new one.

OH, HEY VIMES AND XAIF I JUST NOTICED SOMETHING
The urban tiles are 1px above where they should be. There's this hideous line underneath them on Xaif's screenshot, that on there just looks grey. D:

[AND IT'S NOT XAIF'S FAULT IT'S VIMES' >(]

kiwi: Oh, I forgot there was a topic made about charge rates XD That seems simple enough, I'll leave it for now though, it seems like uru has stuff to add so Beta 24'll probably be out soon, best if they're added in there instead.

kosh: lole, I mentioned that in the release post, but nevermind <3

Where can I download the music files? I tried clicking on the link in the release post but the topic apparently no longer exists.

Being as technically incompetent as I am, what's the difference b/w .ogg and .rar?

And thanks for the link, retsej.

Ogg is an Ogg Vorbis audio file....which is an alternative to MP3 but is said to be "lossless audio" or something meaning you don't lose the audio quality quite like you do with MP3s.

A RAR is an alternative uh, "archival file", similar to ZIP but using a different compression method which is said to compress more effectively and securely. :E

*Is desperately hoping this is the right place to post this*

I'm trying to download retsej's files from the link, but some are taking forever and a day for my comp to even recognize them. Some (Adder, Andy, all 3 BH Power themes) happened instantly, but right now I've been waiting on Colin for upwards of five minutes since I clicked on his name. Nothing yet.

Help a noob out? :(

Colin works fine, lol

Perhaps you should stop trying to download many music files at once? >_>

The others will start as soon as the last are finished lol

But that's just it. I'm only doing one at a time. I do have more sense than that, you know.

Right now all I have going on is this forum and a server game. The game shouldn't be an issue, since the ones that did work were also done during the game. For lack of a speedier way to do it, I've been downloading 1 track, putting it in a folder, then moving on to the next. And some seem to work, some don't. I honestly have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

In case there's a misunderstanding, I'm not even getting as far as the prompt where Firefox asks you where you want to save it. I click and the little "busy" animation goes and goes and goes and goes and...you get the picture.

EDIT: I decided to test exactly how long it takes. From the time I clicked on "Melanthe" to the time it was saved, around 7-8 minutes elapsed. Nothing else was being downloaded. Also, I'm pretty sure that her theme is more than 12 seconds long, but that's how long it lasts when I try to play it.

It doesn't work for me either. Additionally when I tried Sabaki's theme in her official topic I get an error page.

This is just being nitpicky, but .ogg is a lossy format, like MP3's.

No one should be required to download those files one by one >_>

Put them in a rar.

And CW still needs an installer executable.

I assume this is something that automatically installs music when CW is downloaded?

If so, VERY YES.

And how do I put them in a rar? I believe I made it clear a few posts ago that I am technically incompetent in these matters. :?

I think Narts meant that Retsej should stick all of his music in a .rar and upload it for us to download.

To make a .rar, just stick all of the file you want to compress into a folder, then right-click it and select "Add to 'x.rar'..."
And boom! There ya go.

You have to download WinRAR first, though >_>;

That wasn't directed at you. I meant that whoever hosts those files should have them in a rar so it would be possible for people to download them all at one click.

An installer could do the whole installation process automatically, the game and sound files and everything.

I can imagine the current arrangement turning a lot of potential players off.

Eh, as far as the actual game goes, it works. You just unzip it and play it. :/

BETA 23E
There's a Beta 23d on the server, I dunno why
Quote:

Changes:
- Updated COs. All of them. Except for Xavier, actually. Whoops.
- Star charging also updated to 7000G per star. Rounds down, so eh.
- Damage charts possibly updated (I just used the ones from the last release)
- Intel Screens implemented for the main menu, hitting 'c' makes it all throw up, I'll fix that later. I think Xaif may have something to do with it >:O
- COs that have been voted out are still in :D
- LOBBY CLIENT OMG THANK YOU FOBBAH

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to pass out.

I'm too lazy to post this in its own thread so yeah.

Before CW closed for no reason at all (it wasn't an online game either) I found that the damage for Megatanks seems to be wrong... they're supposed to have medium tank offense but now they're 20000g monsters that can OHK medium tanks >_>

Everything else seemed fine though but I didn't have the chance to check stuff like Megatank defense or anything.

Yeah, the damage tables are my fault, sorry.

Wow, awesome release, online battles are getting so much easier to use. Also: Mist of War!

Meanwhile, it seems the image and mapping folders have cluttered up again. I removed all unnecessary folders in mapping in beta 23c, and also removed all of the unit sprites and CO sprites as we have no need for them anymore due to sprite sheets. Additionally I put in new urban sprites, which do away with our nasty CW ones.

And what's this about pressing c? =/

Hey, for those who need a version of CW to map with, just use this one.

There are a few balance fixes, so in theory you could take it online. In theory.

I added a fixed version of Gyroptic on the map pack I uploaded.

It should be fixed for the next release.
