Time for me to say an "I told you so."

"I told you so."

Yep, place is dead. Shame too, there was much potential, but nobody could agree to anything. Too many cooks spoiling the broth and all that.

Oh well, it's dead. I'll send flowers.

Hello! hello!
We're alive and well with much potential being steadily realised. In the past month we have made great strides to start rebuilding energy in the project. I think everyone will readily admit that in the last year interest in the project dived because of a few bugs and miscommunication, since no one stepped up and said guys we need to get something more organised together it just kind of stood still and started to get a bit rusty.

I have congregated as many of the old programmers as I can together to all agree on some new goals and directions. It's been going really well and we now have a new working build with a little bit more code organisation taking place. The code repository is now truly open and viewable/available for checkout here: http://code.google.com/p/customwars/.

We are aiming to have a new build out as soon as we can that will get rid of the dreaded end of day bug!

Xenesis, I'm really sorry I never got in contact with you sooner I was unaware how much you had put into the CW project! I'll private message you for a chat!

If you need any help with the website or forum running, I will be willing to help just PM me. I can code in php/html but not Java at the moment.
It is good to hear that work is now going on in this again.

Yeah definetly, we don't want to get too many artists into the mix too quickly because we don't want to dissapoint! But we will be looking to get all sorts of artists to contribute to a new plugin style custom wars game, maybe we could start some sort of gallery in preperation?

euh what

Graphics
I'm so lost ;_;

Are you taking the old engine [with the old CCOs], the DOR engine or...

what. I'm lost. @_@;

My Photoshopping skills have improved since the glory days of CW, so I don't mind throwing some more of my help into the project. I might even be able to create a better UI by now. <:

Please tell me you're using the old engine, though with the 40-something COs - that was CW's prime and I really miss those days. ;_;

Oh... hey,

I can fill you in on what's happening if you have any further questions. But to answer your question, so far, we are refining Beta 27. The engine will be faster, better, and eventually... bugless. But we need as many people as possible working to make this happen. As of now, most graphics work is on standby until we have a better idea of the direction of the engine.

As it stands... we are going back to the glory days until further notice.

OH CHRIST YES
I JUST CAME.

Let me know what forums you need to reappear - I'll revive those areas you need. B)

Define "better" though - are you going to throw characters back into the game, or what?

psst i had an idea because you're really going the extra mile here, but
i don't know if I should share it plus it's way too early to determine it

what the hell, i'll share it anyway
Is it possible to make the COs standalone files like we currently have maps? To add/take out COs, you just take them out of their respective folders/comment out their alliance?
That would make this game the cat's meow of most users, then we can keep all the old COs and users could just place them in the folders as needed.

There has been talk about modularising the COs, and it should be quite possible too, yes.

Yeah definitely possible and more than that inevitable otherwise we're not really doing the 'custom' part of the 'wars' justice in the title.

Oh hey, it seems that CW isn't so dead anymore.

It looks like its situation is slowly improving, so that's a good sign.
