Some people have asked me how they can start getting involved without any prior experience in programming.
To make a difference in the custom wars project all that is needed is enthusiasm. We are all dedicating parts of our free time so it is not run in the same way as a conventional project, it is just culmination of best efforts.

Heres a basic outline of how to go about starting:

Download the code
This could seem daunting but its really not! It's just like a car, you don't have to be an engineer to turn the ignition key and put the pedal to the metal. Well it's the same here you don't necessarily have to be able to change any of the code to make it compile! At this very moment in time we do not have a stable build that we can distribute so the only way to get playing is to get right down to the nitty gritty and checkout the code

First off I would visit our Developers setup guide and try and muddle through. Don't worry if you get stuck we encourage you to give it a go. The developers are all right here in these forums if you want to ask us questions.

Play & Test
We're going to need lots and lots of people playing the game in order to see where our time should be best spent. If you can get the code checked out and compiling then well done you are now ready to start ripping it apart! Find bugs comment on breaks and silly problems, anything!
Here is our official issues list:

Review Code
The changing code base is committed in full viewfor everyone to comment on. The only way it will get better is with lots of eyes! If you critique on the code you will be surprised at how much you will learn from experienced programmers. Also for experienced programmers this is great way to sharpen your saw! You can see all of the commits made in the google repo:
