This topic is about adapting the DoR COs into the old power system for no real reason. kiwi can't actually add COs or anything right now, but he'll eventually get bored enough to do so.

Brenner: defense/healing
3/6
100/100
110/120 +1.5 HP
110/140 +3 HP

Lin: general/vision
3/6
100/100
120/120 +1 vision
150/120 +2 vision

Will: attack/move
3/5
100/100
130/110
140/110 +1 move

Isabella: move/range
3/6
100/100
110/110 +1 move, +1 range
130/110 +2 move, +1 range

Tasha: air power/revenge
3/7
120/100 air, 90/100 tanks, 100/100
150/110 air, 120/110 tanks, 130/110
230/110 air, 150/110 tanks, 160/110

Gage: indirect/navy/range
4/7
110/110 indirects and navy, 100/100
130/120 indirects and navy, 110/110, +1 range
150/120 indirects and navy, 110/110, +2 range

Forsythe: fast general
2/5
100/100
115/115
130/130

Waylon: air defense/defense
3/6
100/120 air, 100/100
110/160 air, 110/120
110/190 air, 110/140

Greyfield: navy discount/defense
2/6
100/100, 90% cost ports
110/125 navy, 110/115, resupply
130/140 navy, 110/130, resupply

Penny: being adorable if kooky
?????
?????
?????
?????

Tabitha: tanks/filling the cheerful goth loli quota
4/7
110/110 tanks, 100/100
140/120 tanks, 110/110
170/120 tanks, 110/110, 3 damage missile

Caulder: HP regeneration/being an asshole
0/10
100/100 +1 HP
not applicable
160/160

So yes, open suggestions on Penny, although any insight on the others is welcome.

Okay, yes, these are going into another mod kiwi and I are thinking of making, so while I'm open to input, the gist of it is this. It would include all the other AW COs too which is why we can't just duplicate stats, not that that would be constructive to a worthwhile mod.

Lastly, yeah, I know Tabitha being a tank specialist is ironic.

While we can't test these for a while, I just wanted to get it out there.

HP regen will do that

Fine.

"THE BEAST"
3/6
130/80
160/90
190/90

Yes, this is Grimm, but the old CW balance team nerfed Grimm to a more conservative 115/90, so yeah.

Caulder should be around Von Bolt's level, likely above. His units don't have the extra attack or defense to give him an immediate edge, but +1 HP is roughly equivalent to +10/10 except when the unit is at the cap. In the long-run he's probably better than VB because it affects infantry and thus captures, impairs mass damage, reduces the need to repair, strengthens repairs that are made, and can potentially improve yield from joining units. It's free money either way, and while it's not flashy it should make for a good boss CO while giving the rest a fair shot. Ideally. Unlike DoR Caulder.

Except Caulder's ability was never free, it cost him funds to do the repairs.

yes

he also healed 5 HP instead of 1, also 160/160 units in a 3 zone
seriously what are you supposed to do against that? yield?

I think I'd rather take on this Caulder especially since I can use

HYPER ZOMBIE ARMY
ROIDMAN ROCKET PUNCH
FAST ACTION TACTICAL
LAWYER STYLE
TOWERING MUSTACHE POWER
OLD MAN MUSTACHE POWER
BURNING BRENNER TECHNIQUE
REVENGE with less suck
TABITANKS also with less suck

and uh

SASHA

For authenticity and fairness's sake I guess I can try implementing a cost tie to his regen but no promises
alternatively I can try making the regen occur at the end of his turn for lulz

assuming I ever get bored enough to do this

also I actually looked at the stats
I thought we agreed 1.5 HP is crappy number and just use 2 so Brenner would be COP spam, Andy is SCOP

You're the modder, fill in whatever you feel like dealing with.

Why doesn't Sasha get a nickname? Or Sophie?

oh
I too was also just saying, that I am more apt to do the simplest thing than anything else

SASHA and SOPHIE don't get nicknames cause their regular names are enough to tell you what you're up against
Sasha's all like "oho I can rob your COPs like no other CO in the game, screw the rules I have money"
Sophie can kick you in the groin without recompense and her SCOP is basically flipping you off at the same time

That makes just about no sense at all; what if you've never faced them before? Not that the other names are conducive.

And way to cover ass, maybe I should do the talking from now on.

It's half of Andy's COP every day, really. Gip and I played with some balance hacking a long time ago and even with +2HP, 3 Zone and no stat boost, paying for repairs it was pretty rape.

The only thing that made it cool was the fact that he had no CO Power. He was better than Brenner really.

If you give him the stuff for free, it's going to hurt.

NEW CHALLENGER

CAULDER

I thought it was supposed to hurt

ok admittedly ROIDMAN + comm towers shut him down; will try other matchups
so I guess I know how to add COs now but it's kinda wonky, and no graphics

what's the deal with the name glitch? I didn't type in LevenworthX or Aira anywhere but they show up
pretty sure they're not even in COList or COType either

for the name glitch, I think there's an image in the images folder with all the CO names on it, it might be something to do with that...

EDIT:

...\images\misc\mainmenu\conametag.gif

could it be something to do with that image?

shit

yeah maybe, I was hoping it was just graphical but the game hangs when you try to select the new COs
I sacrificed valuable nap time to crank out the DoR COs and and you can't select them! wtf

well except for Caulder

If you get the code to me somehow I can take a look and see how I can help. I'm going to dinner right now, but I'll be checking back to this topic from time to time.

right, how do I do that? looking at the docs, they read as CLASS files but the beta 27 source were JAVA.

Otherwise as I understand it these files are needed to make a CO:
COList
COType
actual CO

am I missing something or is it really that nametag list?

If you want the name to appear correctly in the CO Select screen, yes you'll need to add names to that picture with the CO Names in a list. You'll also need to keep track of the id of the CO you are using because the id will actually determine how far down the engine will look for a CO name.

I don't think that should cause the game to hang though. If it can't find a particular image (either because the image doesn't exist or is outside of the image's boundaries) it should just be displaying a blank.

BTW I think you only need to worry about COList; for my local copy of CW27 (not sure if anything's been drastically different with CO filtering since then), COType isn't used anywhere.

hey I still got some sort of discount didn't I? flat -1000 price is probably better than -10% and it doesn't apply to transports
of course, it doesn't show up on the build menu either but it works, so revert to first post Greyfield
actually no his SCOP is the same as the new one

more CHANGE

Brenner x2 counters on SCOP
for the lulz

Isabella perfect move on SCOP

Penny is shaping up to be a fairly scary opponent

I just want to go on record saying I did not approve of Brenner x2 counters. Regular stealths are bad enough, what do you do against 140 defense 240 counter stealths?

At least Waylon has the good grace to not go healing his stealths. Or, you know, the rest of his units.

Penny is pretty awesome. And by awesome, I mean annoying.

yeah fine, we don't want ARMY OF HOPE being so much better than HYPER ZOMBIE ARMY

seriously why ARMY OF HOPE?
I am highly skeptical of your naming capability even when my own is inversely proportional to anything resembling quality

You guys are aware that the EU version has different names for the COP's right? For most cases those would make perfectly fine, "canonical" SCOP names. Army of Hope for fuck's sake... Lifeline actually sounds like it could be a buffed up version of Reinforce.

EDIT: Since I was bored I looked them up to save you the trouble:

Lin : Night Vision
Ed (Will) : New Era
O'Brian (Brenner): Lifeline
Catleia (Isabella): Overlord
Trak (Gage): Long Barrel
Zadia (Tasha) Fox One
Sigismundo (Greyfield): High Command
Finn (Waylon): Bad Company (I love this one)
Larissa (Tabitha): Apocalypse
Lili (Penny): Enigma

Also Crap 2.5 doesn't seem to have the sprites for dor CO's, I guess you just don't have the Black Dawn distribution to steal them from?

It's not difficult to find: http://www.customwars.com/filehost/Cust ... _Beta3.zip

That's just the thing, we did use the BD sheets but they don't get read
instead there's these other images that aren't sheets but do work

for a given definition of work
Image
Forsythe, THE BEAST, and Caulder don't have legs and the latter two don't have face portraits either

and just be happy I didn't use my names
Lifeline, High Command, and Bad Company are pretty badass though

Why does Will get -1~+1 luck? He seems weak compared to everyone else who are a bit on the extreme side.

Names that suck less. I don't suppose there are other language versions we should rip off?
So yeah, you'll have to speak up if you want a say in "CHANGE."

Brenner: Reinforce, Lifeline
Yes, why didn't we look up alternate names earlier, this is pretty much perfect.

Lin: Scout, Night Vision
Both blah to begin with but ok.

Will: Rallying Cry, New Era
Battle Rush, Assault Raid, Burning..., Sunrise, Forward Unto Dawn
New Era? It sounds better, but not much better...

Isabella: Deep Strike, Overlord
Can we call it Operation Overlord?

Tasha: Fox One, Sonic Boom
Air Raid, Air Assault, Thunderclap, Thunderbird, Firebird, Razor Wind, Dive Bomb...
Need to look up more air lingo.

Gage: Longshot/Long Barrel
Which one sounds more super?

Forsythe: none
Valor, Heroic Resolve
Not canonical or original in the slightest.
Momentum, Persistence
Same.

Waylon: Wingman, Bad Company
I guess this one's final.

Greyfield: Supply Chain, High Command
Also pretty solid.

Beast: none
Ravage, Savage Beast
Same situation as Forsythe, needs help.

Penny: Stormfront, Enigma
Bad Weather, Mindtwister, Mindbreaker?
I don't see how Enigma fits her canon or crap ability sets.

Tabitha: Firestorm, Apocalypse
Doesn't really fit without making the powers the same except more.
I mean, unless her tanks get invincibility it's not really the end of the world.
Hailfire, Iron Maiden

Caulder: none
Deadly Fascination
Lethal Fascination
Absolute Solution
For Science
:\

If the doctor were a CO, he should totally have Surgical Strike as a power name.
