To be honest, IanParr... I am just finishing what someone else started.

There is a lot of people who actually want to see this game actually... succeed. There is a lot of people who want the freedom to create customized content within an AW setting. There is a lot of people wondering if, it is even possible.

I know it is possible to build a game like this that is simple to add content in an AW setting. I am going to prove it. Building this game is just the first step.

Trust me, the only thing this site needs is a working game and the power to add your own custom content to the game. A little bit of advertising goes a long way. Take a look at the design forums of every AW game site and forum, the people are waiting and eager to design. Where there are designers, there are gamers. I am building this mainly so people will be able to design and edit whatever they choose to in an AW universe. If this is done well, people will come.

Of course, though... we are at baby steps again. I can't just snap my fingers and get everything I want at once. These things take time. All I know is, I have an aim... and I am working toward it. As long as I don't give up, who knows how far CW can get. :)

So, in short, don't worry about users. They are out there, just waiting for a program to come along so they can try their ideas. I just need to tap into that power, and the users will come.

As CW2 is decribed in "Overview of all major Advance Wars Remakes" is not what you sent me to. The cw2 that you sent me to is a Dor style game without CO. I want to think I'm missing some files or something, but this is not an update to CW1.

lol that topic is dead

update your infomatics, CW2 is using DOR as a base; if you were so inclined, you could start modding it for something else

CW2 is using nothing as a "base", it will eventually have plugins to support all the AW games as well as the old CW system.

CW2 is nothing but an engine, all the game content is in the plugins.

It's a work in progress :) I released early on because I had something to show and to get early feedback.

Well there is more to it then code, if you want to help out:

Translating:
I just noticed that the archive forums had a translation forum. Maybe you could collect the translations from those posts put them in a file called Languages_<CountryCode>.properties and send them to me. There are example files in this dir If no translation is given the default English value from Languages.properties is used.

dor as Base?

Okay I've transfered/translated three of them so far, but I still need to know what medium you want them in.

Yeah I should give you some more information:
The format is like the files in this directory: (you can also find these files in your local game in the resources dir)
http://code.google.com/p/customwars/sou ... data/lang/

so a key = value system, where the key is what I use in the program and the value is the translation in some language.
You will have more keys then in the given translation files but that's not a problem you can just add the extra keys as they are ignored for now. They can be used later on.
It's best to keep the translation keys grouped together(units, cities, terrains,...) with a # prefix and each language file should have the same key order.
See my previous posts for the naming of these files. You don't have to translate co's.

Good luck! :)

Ok I set up one of the language files i translated, as the default language in my game and it works fine aside from two things. one, anytime i use a letter with an accent mark your system doesn't recognise it, and respons as if there was no letter there. two, when I try to start a one player battle right before i enter the battle the program shuts down and i found that it shut down because it can't find the Key "player". But the translation for player in my language file is done in the proper set up. Is there something I'm misssing helpme please.

To fix the special characters you need to convert the files to unicode. First you'll need thejava developement kit:

Make sure to install it on the C drive:
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0\

Then Download(not run) the bat file and put it in the directory with your translation files (the .properties files)
double click it. It will create a new folder containing the converted files. You can now use/copy the new files into the lang dir. The special characters will be replaced by /00000 that is fine.

If your installation path is different open up the bat file and change the path inside.

I can only say double check your files.
