I claim custom creations and shall rename it THE CAVE

but I guess seriously we'd just need a topic per game/mod/thing/abomination, with CW2's stickied plus a short sweet info topic

the only thing is if stef is cool with this

speak of devil how DO you work with XML files

A xml file is a text file with a .xml extension
so if you want to edit an xml file you right click on it and choose edit. Double clicking on a xml file will probably open it in your browser.

Ah, in the second point, kiwi is referring to moving activity to the Wars World News forums. I'm not sure on the details or even if this is a good idea, but I'm sure I don't want to be greeted by bots every time I check this place.

Narts made a topic about CW2 which led to communist monkeys for some inane reason.

Duly noted.

Are the XML files supposed to be absolutely giant strings of text? I take it they're not, but on our PC at least there are no line breaks whatsoever. I'm about halfway through reorganizing them.

Also, how do you turn off the sound effects?

I think they use unix style formatting, you might have better luck opening them in some less ghetto text editor, such as conTEXT, than in notepad.

Well it is beginning to look like we'll have to move the discussion about CW over on WWN anyway once this place becomes unusable due to the unstoppable zombie robot hordes. >_>

Whether they make a board for it or not.

Personally I use Notepad++(freeware) for any text editing because of the syntax highlighting,
it also shows text in red when the syntax is wrong. Wordpad displays the xml properly. Notepad doesn't cooperate at all.

To see if the xml is valid just open it into your browser.

About the sound effects there is a bug that triggers the move ingame cursor sound effect each time you move the mouse... That is irritating.
I fixed that and also added a config option to enable/disable sound/music. This will be included in the next stable release(1.2)

btw interesting topic on awn!
