Olimar does seem to be able to rack up damage fast as heck with his Pikmin. What's dragging him down? Poor launcher options?
He gets gimped reaaaaally easily, as does Ivysaur

The site says that the pokemon have a stamina thingie to deal with. He kept using Ivysaur. Anyone who's already played the game and knows this, what's the sweet spot when it comes to timing?

I actually never notice a stamina thing. Whenever I use PT, I always use Charizard and there weren't any problems that came up.

If you keep fighting with the same Pokémon, or if you change them out too often, it’s not so good for the Pokémon.

If you want to be a good Pokémon Trainer, you’ll need to learn these kinds of ins and outs.

This makes it sound like it would be very apparent. If it's not even noticeable then what's the point to changing pokemon?

After a while your pokemon gets tired out and moves diminish in knockback/damage, and looks physically exhausted. So there's no middle ground, just "tired" and "not tired" apparently.

Something like that.

If your pokemon stays out for more than 2 minutes, it'll get tired.

If you switch or die, it'll regain all stamina. Even if you just switch three times to get back to your original pokemon.

In other words, it only applies in 4-player FFA's or when nobody can manage to get a KO for 2+ minutes.

What do you mean? Is he able to cancel any move in/out of Reversal or something?

I think SJ is referring to how Lucario's attacks do more damage as his own damage percent rises. And he's actually pretty annoying to get rid of, so yeah.

And that's a sweet down special he has.

In Poke-illiterate terms, that's the gist of it.

Isn't that more how Rage functions? Although either way it is an interesting addition. Has anyone got any details on how much the change is?

Reversal increases in power as your HP decreases, where as Rage increases in power as time passes. That's pretty interesting however that this has been applied to Brawl.

About the moves not disclosed in the manual...

Is "Ukemi" just ripped off from Viewtiful Joe, or is that the standard lingo for saving your neck right before you fall to your back?

Also, does anyone buy the "Nintendo wouldn't allow Capcom characters because RE4 was ported to the PS2" argument? It sounds kinda valid to me...

Ukemi is Japanese. It's used in a lot of fighting games for various purposes.

Capcom would force Nintendo to pay Royalties if their characters were put in...

But Solid Snake was begged to be put in, so there is no royalty problem with them from what I know.

So no, Capcom characters won't get in because their royalty fee is phenominal.

And Ukemi is a safe fall maneuver in martial arts.

I think Nintendo were reluctant to put 3rd party characters in TBH. But Hideo Kojima did beg for Snake to be added, once they gave in I assume it only followed that Sonic was added. Given Nintendo and Sega's blossoming friendship of recent and Mario and Sonic's first joint game ever being released last year, it's clear why he was. And in my opinion, if there was no Snake, then there wouldn't be any Sonic either.

Mario and Sonic are going to appear side by side more often.

After all, there's that 'Mario & Sonic At the Olympics' game, right?

They didn't try very hard with Sonic.
I mean, I know Sonic is just a one-trick pony, but good lord, you could have made up something... you did so for the Falcon!

It's a reference to Sonic's early days, where the spin attack was his thing. Those were the days when Sonic's platforming antics were right up there with Mario's.

I'm glad they kept him simple for this reason.

But it does get slightly annoying when watching a video with Sonic in it and hearing that "screee" sound every few seconds. Though if so many of his moves look the same it could make for some interesting mindgames...

Actually, it's pretty much always used to save your ass from a fall, which may clue you in on its actual meaning.

I've been wondering, does anyone know where the negative zone came from? Maybe Luigi's Mansion? or is it a reference to the Minus World?

I think it's a reference from Super Mario Bros. 2. In that game, it was called Subspace, so it only makes sense(since it looks a lot like it).

The stage creator is really cool. There are three sizes to choose from (though I only use Large) and three tilesets (Ruins, Metal, and Natural).

Also, Olimar is my secondary main. He racks up damage unbelievably fast.

So apparently Lucario is able to use his Dair as a recovery move and to stop upward momentum. And his hitboxes often have little to no relation to his attack animations. This guy is definately gonna be one of my mains now.

It seems the internet's having a shitfit over Roy/Mewtwo/Dixie/Toon Zelda/Dr. Mario/Plusle/Minun possibly being in the NA/PAL release and being DLC for Japan.

I was interested until I heard TFox was the leaker. :?

It's funny because the smash community is all over it, but no one in the AW community really takes him seriously.

Lol, DLC.

(It'd be awesome if that was true. I wouldn't care if it wasn't, but if it was, that's awesome.)

Someone who owns the game: Please tell me Pikmin & Olimar's Final Smash is avoidable. Please, please tell me that I'm wrong in assuming that Sakurai not only suggested to the design team, "Hey, why don't we give one of the characters a 30%+ damage full-screen unblockable with little or no startup that ends in a potential OHKO and leaves them with frame advantage?", but that the design team actually said "okay" and put it in.
That, or tell me there's some way to disable Final Smashes in Wifi.

If this is true, this is easily the second most idiotic design choice in the history of the series, surpassed only by the idea of completely random tripping.

Fuck. I was just about to debunk this rumor until I found

guardianhyperion.googlepages.com/dsbx-file.txt

lol it'll yell at me for hotlinking if I post it normally.

Hmm...

In the /effect/fighter/ folder there appears to be a toon_zelda and a toon_shiek

Wouldn't it make more sense to make it Zelda with a Tetra transformation? >_>;

HOWEVER HOWEVER

CHECK OUT THE SIZE OF THE CHARACTER

128
but SO IS GAME AND WATCH
but it's interesting; as Kirby doesn't have any outfit for those characters.

also
There's a ton of _en files
XEN SET YOUR FIRMWARE TO ENGLISH

NOW

The 30% damage you take when he goes into the air is unavoidable, but you CANNOT DIE from it alone. I mean yes, it's kinda lame, but to each character their own. I'd rather have Mario's Fireball than Olimars, simply because the Fireball will drag people out of the map to KO them guaranteed if I set it up right.

When Olimar is landing his space ship, he can kinda steer it to crash into you(That would send you flying), but that part CAN be dodged easily.

In short, yes, you can avoid dying from it. But you are guaranteed to take SOME damage(Even if it's nonlethal).
