I dunno why people make such a big deal about tripping.

I haven't seen anyone lose a game or anything because they tripped. With >100 hours of multiplayer on my copy.

I can't see the big problem either. It'll hardly be game changing. Sure it's a bit wierd, but it's not going to make that much of a difference...

Also, I was wondering, can you do 2 and 3P battles online, or is it always 4P? And can you do stock battles, or is it always timed?

Dear GOD.
The english voice acting is easily as bad as Mega Man ZX Advent. And they removed the option to use Japanese voices? What the hell?

Who cares, Brawl comes out on Saturday. I plan to attend the midnight opening. <_< Mainly because I have a Brawl party scheduled for that Sunday and I would lose a arm if I didn't have it.

I don't think half of the voices are bad, personally. Except maybe Pokemon Trainer, but we'll probably be too busy brawling to even notice. >_>;

I just hope they don't screw up Wolf. "Doushita doushita?!" spam was a bit annoying, but I just hope they don't get too carried away - A cynical "What's wrong?" is good enough for me. >_>;

midnight tourney aaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I hope they force everyone to play via sideways remote, because then I'll have the upper hand >_>;

My advice for the tourney: If you want to make sure you don't go barreling off the side of stages, don't use Sonic. Sure, he's a really good character and all, but if they force you to play using the remote, he's difficult to control without an analog stick.
You'll probably have a lot of Sonic players at the tourney, too. I'm sticking with Diddy because he's got solid knockback, his B^ has insane recovery if done right and it takes quite a bit to knock him off the stage. I usually get up to a good 150% or so before I have trouble staying on the stage. :S

But yeah I reserved my copy of Brawl elsewhere - at a Gamestop that isn't participating in the midnight opening. Rather, it opens an hour early on Sunday. I don't care, really - I'm just going to get there half-an-hour before the opening to guarantee myself a copy.
I have a lot of work to do this weekend coming, but I don't really care - I'm playing until I unlock Toon Link and then I can continue my work.
My parents also aren't going to be home until next week so I'm kinda free-reign on the weekend

party @ kosheh's house wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Oddly enough, I was just playing and finishing Advent, since ZX was pretty awesome and I love the MM series.

Some voices aren't bad, but most are just... ugh.

Voices usually only sound awesome in Japanese because you can't understand it so you pretend it's awesome.

Voice acting is intricate, but... never is perfect. Just forget the voices, you're playing brawl to kill shit, not to listen to peach's scream.

At least, I hope you are.

Some of that is really really creepy 0_o Pikachu for example. While others are funny, lol. Peach looks disasbled and it looks like Sonic's masturbating...

Overall, really interesting, and it's cool to see how they went about programming the game.

I saw those last night. Really damn entertaining.

You could do it for SSBM too, but for whatever reason, whenever I tried it, it always froze up within the first few seconds. I know it's not exactly... uh, supported, but I saw videos last longer than the five seconds I ever got.

some moves just make it freeze up, and I guess it'll freeze up and seemingly random points as well. As long as you avoid certain moves, at least in melee, you should be able to continue for a while.

And I was already scared out of my wits after just seeing Donkey Kong as Captain Falcon in Melee, so I'm basically avoiding the brawl moveset swap videos at all costs.

The only freaky ones in those videos at least, are pikadorf and Sonic Peach. For some reason the guy gave Falcon's moveset to Ganondorf... Ganondorf is still pretty similar to Falcon though right? I didn't get that one. Falcon Snake was pretty funny though.

He just needs to rise the right arm, and there we are. XD

Oh and, Pikachu-Ganondorf makes me think of pedobear. Dunno why, though.

Darxio's impressions of SSB:B English voices.

Lucario = PICCOLO
Wolf = TEXAN
Ike = That guy in the beginning of the Neverwinter Nights campaign.
Snake = Pwn
Metaknight = Geese(Fatal Fury), Vader... and an accented Mufasa
Sonic = GOKU
Falco = Black... Italian... thing

If someone here gets the US game, can he check something about the localisation ? I saw a picture on BrawlCentral were there are some random advertissement papers, written in English, but also in French and Spanish... (Like in AWDoR.)

So, my request is, can you take a video (if you can, of course), or just report some stuff about the voices and the narration, if the US version really is in Spanish and French? Some names are differents in French, such as Dedede who is called Dadidou ([da.di.du], don't ask), or Jigglypuff whose name is Rondoudou ([ʁ̃ɔ.du.du]) and Pokémon Trainer's Pokémons (Carapuce [ka.ʁa.pys] ; Herbizarre [ɛʁ.bi.zaʁ] ; Dracaufeu [dʁa.ko.fø]). I just want to know how the narration pronounce those names, since I can't even picture someone pronouncing "Herbizarre" with an American accent... :lol:

Actually no. I just got the game today, and the only thing that changes is the notice at the beginning and the "Rated E by the ESRB" language.

Ingame nothing shows up in French or anything. ;_;

At least now we know why it's still TBA in Europe - they're scratching their heads wondering how on Earth they'll fit more voice acting on a dual-layer disc e_e;

They also redubbed a good portion of the characters - I certainly hope they're not going to do the same in Europe. Though given the Pokemon Trainer and his Pokemon they really have no choice.

Speaking of which, I waited outside the local electronics store and was the second person to the checkout at opening. Since, I came home and I haven't stopped playing

well at least you're not reading the dojo

Isn't it funny that at least half of us used to stay up until late at night every day just to be the first to see five sentences and some pretty pictures written by a Japanese man barely capable of speaking English except "Thank you", "OK", and "Falcon Punch"?

Man we must have been idiots.

But you see, Xen

You live in Australia, which is in the same timezone as Japan.

Sakurai had a convenient time in Japan (and Australia, too, this is where you are) that he'd upload stuff and didn't take hardcore American fanboys into account (this is where me and a few other members of the board are). <_<

see for him it was like

"makazeru-san
ret me heat up my noodles.

okay, good - commence the uproad!
fuck these nooderus are awesome

...........................
but i miss my tiny wife's homeade cooking ):

KYOKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...............!"

For you it was like

"Today was a rough day at uni ):

Let me put some steak on the grille....
and lemme boot up my compy to see today's update.
Life is good."

meanwhile for us poor American timezones we were like
"FUCK I HAVE A TEST TOMORROW
WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO UPDATE THE DOJO
STOP HAVING SEX WITH YOUR TROPHY WIFE AND UPDATE THE FUCKING SITE

GOD I HATE YOU SO MUCH SAKURAI"

He was like the Internet's biggest troll.

"STAY UP SIX HOURS MORE SO YOU CAN SEE A FEW LINES OF TEXT!"

Absolutely nothing? Not even a small black area on the bottom with a description of the going-to-be-selected mode? Nor the trophies description?

Some rumor said that we are not getting the game before autumn, and that's why we would get Mario Kart Wii before America. But that's just a rumor, since Nintendo didn't comfirm it... nor decomfirm.

Redubbed some characters? Which ones? Except the Pokémon, since they "always" was reddubed, i.e. Jigglypuff/Rondoudou and Pokéball's Pokémon.
Oh and, please, if you get the Master Hand or the Crazy Hand trophy, tell me that they didn't change their name to "Main dominante" and "Main folle" - basically "Créa-main" and "Démainiaque". (If the trophies are in French, of course.)

WHY DO I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH?!

I need to find out why I can barely connect to anyone online... my wireless signal is pristine... yet my Wii is turning it into shit and can't even connect to a game.

The only game I managed to connect to spent 2 minutes lagging the first 5 seconds of the match, then I get disconnected.

I hope it's the smash service and not my Wii or Wireless signal fucking up... else I'd have to make it wired... somehow... and I don't know how with only USB in the Wii and Ethernet out of the wall...

What do you guys think I should do? Hell, I don't even know how to do from Ethernet to USB and make my Wii Wired... I wish it had an ethernet port.

Darxio: You can buy a LAN adapter for wired connections, it's £20 here, so that probably means it's about $20 over there. As we always get ripped off.

I'd love to get on wifi, but a) the school network sucks and b) it doesn't seem to want to let my Wii connect. ;_; I blame the fact that you have to log on every time you connect to it.

Slightly moar on-topic: Lucas officially rocks. I spit in the face of anyone who says PK Starstorm sucks. <_<

Lucas' PK Starstorm is pretty horrible. At least Ness' moves too fast to dodge on small stages. What Lucas DOES have is an insane UTilt and USmash with deranged priority, damage, and knockback.
Now if only they had third jumps.
