yes that's what I've been doing the last few days, nothing but this fucking game

It's a 3D arena fighting game - the only thing I can really compare it to is Power Stone sans the throwable stage props. Maybe Dead or Alive, or Tekken....most combos outside of Renegade rely on delayed button pressing to string together combos.

Image

It's pretty decent (well it's one of my dreams come true :v:) and the only problem is that some people lag (which is a common issue in most online fighting games); but in this particular game laggers tend to just "teleport" about.

http://www.ogplanet.com/rf/default.asp

There's four different classes in the game:
and i shall provide great detail and personal advice lol

Striker - relies on close combat. High base HP and offense stats, balanced stats otherwise which is good for beginners.
Default ExoCore (Exocores are transformations that allow you to do specials) is primarily close-range attacks. Go for Kung Fu for 15K when you get the chance.
Soul Fighter - Hit and run types. High speed and jump, but weak base defense. Default exocore shoots projectiles AFAIK, like shuriken and kunai (they're semi-close range) Ideal buyable Exocores allow Soul Fighters to transform into animals (wolves, rams - they take the soul of another form, hence their name) I suggest saving up for Ninjutsu for 12.5K.
Elementalist - Supposedly have strong psychic powers, so they have a high Special stat, but their attack/defense stats are below average. The key with Elementalists is to attack from a distance, and they're great to have on your teams during team battles as Strikers can go on the offensive while Elementalists shoot off projectiles from a distance. Their default Exocore allows them to shoot homing projectiles. I suggest saving up for Kobudo for 15K.
Alchemist - Great defense but poor speed/jump. The key to using Alchemists is to block a lot, and then counterattack with strong specials. Their Exocores allow their users to posses huge armor or mechs. I suggest saving up for Shidokan at 13.5K.

I'm a level 9 female Striker and my user nick is "Oiishidesu" (it's delicious!) so if you see me around the beginner channels, add me and persuade me to join your side on team battles.
I think Fugue's a Striker too.

I like it because it's got that same grinding but the grinding really doesn't get stale because there's tons of people to beat the crap out of.

My suggestion, though is hold out on buying anything until you can afford your class-specific Sacred Scroll (which have fighting styles). Don't bother with Street because it's crap.
Also, tag along in team battles because if you win, you'll get upwards from 70k each battle.

also stay away from edges lol

o and 1 moar thing

get rdy 4 nub typin lol

It's quite an epic decision, Simmeh. Neither do I.

But I like RF in all its chibi-retarded glory. D:

Well Trotim it IS LIKE TEKKEN TROTIM BECAUSE IT IS 3D AND ADVANCED COMBO SYSTEMS REQUIRE A KNOWLEDGE OF JUGGLING BY DELAYING PUNCHES AND KICKS

IMO it's like...a combination of Power Stone's free-roaming element, Bloody Roar's transformation...and MAYBE Virtua Fighter's punch/kick/guard/jump arrangement

also the punch + guard being a throw

Huh, other people compared it to Super Smash Bros. D;

Eh, just never liked these frantic games. Tekken and UT99 are nice, slow games where you can actually think for some split seconds sometimes.

Oh, also I can't play the game because I'm not from Canada or the US... riiight.

Uh

Did you download the game, Deoxy? >_>
Download the game, install the stuff and when you've done all that, you should have the client thing show up.

Also, Fugue and I have a room in the Beginner channel called "Custom Warriors" - the pass is "ember".
We'll also do it in Open, too, but if you're a CWer and want to fight CWers, make the "Custom Warriors" room. We know the pass already lol.

Show up if you signed up :v:

Oh also: Ingame nicknames plz

Uhm

last I remember after you download the game it has to download a series of updates. And after that, you get the login screen, right? With LOGIN, GO!OGPlanet and Cancel

I usually just type in my username

then fill in my pass

and hit enter

I don't think there's any refreshing of pages at the login screen <_<

EDIT: Oh and if I wasn't specific my username is "Oiishidesu" so look out for me :V

Deoxy, are you having a problem getting the download to work? Have you tried any of the other mirrors?

EDIT: Lvl 11, and soon I will be able to say I KNOW KUNG FU and go Neo on your persimmons.

Deoxy if you want one of us could probably just upload the client on rapidshare or whichever and you could get it that way. Is there any service you'd prefer?

mirrors basically ease up bandwidth usage by providing alternate download routes or something like that

if one download method hasn't worked, it couldn't hurt to try another one

No, that's just the noobs that play Glacier.

Actual people play the other maps, Deoxy. Noobs play Glacier. Don't fret about it.

quoted for truth

Okay, after looking at it from a sort of tourneytard perspective I realized why Glacier Cove is so coveted among noobs

This is my not-to-scale drawing of Glacier Cove, but something should stick out at you immediately.
Image
IT IS SYMMETRICAL AND FULL OF EDGES

Also, I marked the places where you can't fall off using black X's.

It's pretty much the RF version of a poor man's Final Destination but there is a strategy to survival here.

There's a few basic rules of thumb here:
-If you're blocking, remember it IS possible to be thrown. After the last attack animation's hit happens in an opponent's combo, I sometimes jump to avoid the throw before the animation starts. I advise not to be within a throw's distance within the edges of Glacier Cove
-If you see someone dashing in your direction, JUMP. They're going to shoulder bash you, most likely off of an edge. I've actually jumped over rammers and laughed as they fell off an edge.
-If your team really sucks, they WILL be edged off of the Cove or they'll get ganged up on. Whatever you do, when the hate mob comes after you, don't stick around to beat up on the three people that come to gang up on you because simply: You can't. Start running, and remember to jump over them if you get cornerned because on Glacier, a lot of people actually don't.
If you die too often, you won't advance to the Amateur channel, which requires a real crazy number of kills in proportion to deaths.

Now, for a little bit of analysis on Glacier I've marked up a diagram as to what to avoid and where to stay:
Image

You CAN be edged off the upper-leftmost side of the stage, so try to avoid that area of the stage, too.

If you want to make the battle based on skill more than the ability to ram people off the stage, go for:

-China Town
-Blacktop Melee
-Roof Top (this has edges, but you really can't fall off them as there's a rather high ledge that prevents you from doing so with conventional combos.

The Zen Temple is also fun, but it's extremely symmetrical and the southmost edge is a giant ledge.
If you're playing on the Open channel, Ring of Death I would think is more accepted as a tourneytard stage than Glacier as it relies on pure skill, and the stage is literally a giant square on top of another square.

And avoid by all means:
-Resurrection (or at least its edges)
-That place with the lava and the minecars
-Glacier
-If you're still unexperienced with edgers, "Moonlight Valley" on Open.

Also, Renegade fighting style isn't as bad as it seems, so I would recommend using this while grinding for one of the more powerful exos or Sacred Scrolls.

Which is pretty sad and lol since I played Glacier a few times today with Fugue. I edged like 2 people each round using boxing combos, lol.

You know, you could make a room, Deoxy and just set the stages. <_<

You pay 5k carats. In other words, you don't for a while.
You could try an alt account if you really hate your first class.

Also KUNG FUGUE WILL TAKE YOU DOWN TWO AT A TIME
Just ask Kosh or the Astro Mango

To get Exo meter. Play team games, build a little meter, then run off and shoot fish at people while the strikers and furries keep the enemy busy on the frontlines. The big fish even home in for you.

There are a few spots in most stages that are good for fish sniping. Just avoid Glacier and Sacrifice and you should be okay.
