It's from a small developer, so it kinda slipped under my radar, but now that I know about it, I have to get it.

It's looks like a real time Master of Orion combined with Supreme Commander and possibly Homeworld.

Thus far, everyone who I know that has gotten it loves it.

I remember watching a "sneak peak" thing with one of the guys that made it I guess and the video was really sloppily done because the guy didn't know what the hell he wanted to say and just kind of tripped over himself

Yeah, I saw that video actually.

I think the problem is that their advertising budget is nearly nil, so they had their programmers do the advertising, lol.

It's by Stardock, who also made Galactic Civilizations (aka Master Of Orion with a new shiny paintjob). I've had good experiences with their games, but probably won't be buying this one because I suck even harder at real-time strategy than I do at turn-based.

Thanks for reminding me about this. I've been keeping an eye on this on and off.

Indeed. The fact I actually know someone who wrote Sailor Moon Cannibal Slash proves this point. ~Xenesis

I love Galactic Civilizations 2. I used to make custom game modes for it thanks to its open source code. I'd recommend it to people who like Civilization.

Adam: *continues prancing* Yeah, what?
Jamie: Fecal matter.

So I went through the walkthrough and I decided to play a game (there's no campaign which I disliked, but now that I'm in a game I see how it doesn't really need one.

At first I chose the “Advent” because they sounded cool and now I see that they’re the race that seeks to promote the hive mind. Later I find out that this gives them kickass psionic abilities. Hell yeah.

You have planetary management, which is basically upgrading the amount of logistic/military structures around your planet, increasing population for more tax revenue, increasing planetary HP, and exploring the planet for neat-o artifacts or smaller bonuses.

Each planet is sort of a staging post (a planet could just be an asteroid) where you can build things, such as ships, or research structures, trade ports, or a special structure that spreads culture (A planet that is affected by your culture gives you bonuses and is less likely to rebel)

You have a big research tree, and you have ships that fly around blowing other things up, as well as Capital ships, which are like hero units only they fire lasers n stuff.

Also, this is all handled pretty fluidly, but I haven't tried galaxy-level stuff yet, so yeah.
