It's so frustrating. I don't know what other major titles available in the U.S. but not in Europe I could possibly play in the meantime. (Don't complain, you set yourself up for that one big-time. I do feel bad for you guys, though, honestly.)

St Johnston wrote:

Probably me.

St Johnston wrote:

If my guess is right based on what I've heard so far, bikes will have a sort of 'auto-powersliding' performed by popping wheelies, probably to less effect than real powersliding. Cars and Bikes are comparable to, say, Auto and Manual in MvC: Makes it easy for the new players to perform extremely complicated moves like holding the L button for a while or rotating a joystick, while still offering some depth for people who are into that sort of thing.
If I'm wrong, I'd assume they're just vehicles with different stats, like each player's different Karts in the DS version.

OK.

ohshi so that's what topics are for

I guess I'm going to get the game for my birthday... even though I won't be able to use online... I hate my router, it won't let me use WiFi with my DS and it's too far so my Wii can detect it.

About the bikes... well I dunno.

MKDS was pretty fun, so I'm definitely picking it up.

I haven't read about how they've combated snaking, but I only did it when I was with other snakers anyhow. I was abusing SSMT since MK64, so it's always bothered me that only in MKDS have people really caught on to MT abuse (and complained about it ;/ ).

I'll be getting it next Thursday for sure, I've never been a huge fan of Mario Kart in that I thought Diddy Kong Racing on the N64 wiped the floor with it. This changed on the DS, Rare spoiled the game and MK was very fun. GC version wasn't much good however.

Still, 12 player online can't be all that bad... assuming it works. And I'm interested to see how the wheel works, I haven't played a racer for the Wii since it came out, and want to see how the Wiimote affects them. If it's good, then I can look forward to my F-Zero =3

Also, Bikes are a meh addition, won't change anything, just an extra selection of karts with varying stats and looks. I'm just hoping for good gameplay like the DS, without any ways of abuse (unlike the DS), plenty of long, fun tracks with an online mode that works. If they can deliver that, I'm happy.

Waluigi sucks in this D:

But they brought back Moo Moo Farm as Moo Moo Meadows!

Personally I prefer the DS version though... but the wi-fi seems improved from Brawl's

well, I like to avoid information about games so I can find them out myself and not have the entire game's unlockables spoiled before I even play it.

It's something us Europeans rarely have the chance of having. Nintendo have done well to keep a lid on things that are unlockable. Although the Mii thing was in the trailer for the game on their website so it wasn't too much of a secret.

they took out snaking it seems...should that hold true i'll be very happy. DS just got to a point where i didn't bother with online because everyone was just bowser in yoshi's kart snaking the whole race.

i'll be picking it up tomorrow, yes. can't wait, especially now that more than a couple of my friends have wiis (i'm turning them ^_^)

clearly you have not gone for *** ranking all of Grand Prix mode in Mario Kart DS

This is a normal occurence in the 150cc cups

If you let items bother you in Mario Kart you need to get a life. It's part of it.

Also: I'm happy. They've made it everything I asked for in a previous post. Online multiplayer is surprisingly fantastic, apart from the obvious lack of voice chat or 'gamer tags' it has everything you'd probably get from an Xbox 360 racing game. Had no problems whatsoever with lag either and it takes about 20~30 seconds to get everyone joined in for the race.

Another thing to note is what a good idea having 12 players was, St Johnston this is what balances out items in quite a nice way. As it was before where it was a maximum of 4 players, it was entirely possible you could be first for the majority of the race and get bummed by items at the end then finish up 3rd or 4th/last. With 12 players, skill does play a part in it, if the aforementioned scenario happens, then that's what happens - you end up 3rd or 4th - no biggy. Considering you get positive points for those places, it's really no problem, because the people in the last positions are there because, well, they're the worst players =/

I'm impressed with the game, can't wait to get my friends round now =3
the wheel works
the wheel is the only control method i've used, except when a friend of mine wanted to use it, so i used the remote and nunchuk, and the game just didn't feel the same. I think the wheel works perfectly, and have had no problem with it since i took it out of the box

In Super Circuit you had to use no items of your own as well. :P

ok, after barely making it through a couple of the grand prixs (at 100cc), i stopped using the wheel and started using the nunchuk. suddenly it became so easy, so fluid, so much better an experience.

it's different for everyone, but i think the nunchuk is the one for me.

although yes, the computer really doesn't like you in first. i breezed through MKDS, MKDD and even MK64 (never had super circuit). this was schooling me at 100cc simply because i was being constantly raped by items (often 2 seconds before crossing the finish line). i don't mind losing a race when i'm keeping up with people and it could go either way clearly, but when i have a great lead and suddenly i'm just assraped it can get annoying.

still though, the online's good. xaif, you and i need a race.

also: favourite track? i like moonview highway, grumble volcano and just generally the special cup. and the new battle arenas are so much better than the old ones.
