I've got to get to class right now but I might as well post what I just cooked up: A new Win/Lose screen.

i winged the data i wrote on it
the enemy surrendered on account of mary's coolness

Image

Quote:
Yes, the background scrolls >_>;

Draw main CO 48 pixels from the top, and have it stop drawing at 271 pixels. Or, have it draw BEHIND "LOSE..."
Have main CO draw from 167, 48. Negative x coordinates to the left, so it draws flipped.
Sprite for main CO starts at 0,0 and stops drawing at 168, 225 (on sheet, or have sheet drawn behind "LOSE..."
Other COs (including secondary CO in a tag) can be drawn starting from 0,0 and positioned just like the old win screen.
EDIT: Secondary CO on win screen is drawn behind main CO and at 177, 48. Secondary CO is drawn flipped and is 50% opaque.

Quote box: Start, 168, 216. End 479, 241.

Draw text at ?, 170. Depends on size and font.

FOR RESULTS: Draw at 321, 253.

Same drawing positioning as old loser's sprites, but have it draw in negative x coordinates (so it flips)
I guess you can keep the spacing from the old Lose strip; have those faces drawn from 479, 292 flipped so they're being drawn facing the left.

I'll upload the seperate parts from the screen later, and I'll work on a Results screen tomorrow. But now I have to leave, or I'll be late. >_>;

[/rabbit from looking glass]

EDIT: I also just realized that I can have the boxes and whatnot pre-drawn on a 480x320 image like I've been doing, saving you a lot of work.

d'oh

Also Player, or Faction (Orange Star, or Team A)? >_>

Oh, I totally forgot to add that I just pulled that Mary quote out of my ass. I tried to think of a clever drinking quote, so uh yeah. Feel free to add it to her profile if you like, Frosty. :3

One thing I've been thinking about: This screen makes tag quotes pointless. >_>; Tag win quotes aren't programmed in yet anyway but still, it probably wouldn't hurt to restructure that screen.

If there are two COs in a tag, the secondary CO will probably stand a little further over but be drawn behind the CO. Another quote box will show up; the upper quote being the main CO's and the lower being the secondary CO's.

I still feel like the middle of the screen is empty for some reason, too despite the fact it's quite busy already. <_<

ALSO TELL ME IF THIS IS POSSIBLE, MISTER PROGRAMMER MEN:
it'd be nice if it was doable and implemented >_>;

If I put a directory in misc/victory/ called /bg/, can Java look in the folder and pick out one random .png image from it to use on the victory screen?
Then, we could have actual AW2-style win screens where a random background is generated along with a quote.

Having the background on this screen scroll as well would be nice. If it's too hard to do with the random-img-generation code, then it's not needed. >_>;

Now, to make a viewable results screen, which, if it would be nice, can the victory screen (sans the background), glide off to the right and then up pops "Results"? The "Results" screen wouldn't need any fancy-schmansy glide-in graphics of the sort, just make sure the results glide out. >_>;

it would look extremely clean, and you use a modified version of the current CO-screen glide; just have it glide off to the side of the screen. >_>;

If you think the middle screen is too empty, just have the background scroll during the screen like they do in AWDS. Then it should look great.

It already looks great right now from what I see.

And now, results.

Image
The "To Proceed" text is supposed to blink in and out slowly lulz

And after this the screen should transition to black and then take you to the title screen.

but we don't have transitions so w/e lol
